There are several different materials for flexible plastic tubing, each with its own particular uses and characteristics:

• Polyurethane – very durable; recommended for applications requiring a tighter bend radius. Polyurethane provides excellent abrasion resistance, offering protection from oils and fuel.

• Santoprene – lightweight and ‘rubber-like’. It also has good chemical and temperature resistance.

• Flexible vinyl (FPVC) – versatile; useful for plastic packaging and can be extruded into many shapes. FPVC is noted for the wide range of chemicals it can carry.

• Low density & linear low-density polyethylene (LDPE and LLDPE) – economical; has good chemical resistance.

• Flexible nylon 11 & nylon 12 – tough and chemical-resistant; great for industrial applications that require increased heat and/or chemical resistance.
